The tape drive LTO-4 HH (Linear Tape Open technology) saves twice as much data as its predecessor LTO-3. It is smaller, saves space and has the same performance and reliability as the LTO-4 full height tape drives. The LTO-4 HH is a sensible choice for all those who wish to reduce their energy consumption. The drive has a transfer rate of 120 MB/s.
The industry standard SAS interface ensures that it can be easily installed and integrated in your servers or data center. Likewise, your investment is protected as the drive is read/write compatible with LTO-3 media and still has read compatibility with LTO-2 media.
One major advantage of the LTO-4 HH is the encryption now offered for the first time with an open-systems tape drive. As this encryption meets normal industrial standards, you can be sure that your data can still be deciphered in the coming years. The AES-256-bit encryption enables LTO-4 to benefit from the full drive performance as well as compression modes. You thus do not need to make that difficult decision between tape drive encryption or performance and compression.
